Technically you can say they are uninabitated islands except for penguins. This is not exactly true. On average 30 people live there. They are a British Territory. Pitcairn is a British Territory so is St Helena and Tristan da Cunha. These are isolated with 50 to 300 people each. The USA owns uninhibited islands like Wake Island and Palmyra and Johnston Atoll, etc. Why did we ever occupy them? It goes back to World War 2 and Japan. We did nuke tests on some of them in the Pacific and you're stupid to think the military never goes there! There are other reasons for countries to occupy lands other than citizens. The UK and USA share joint military efforts on Diego Garcia an island in the Indian Ocean. No citizen is allowed to go there it's like Area 51. There are other reasons to occupy land. Many countries claim land in and near Antartica. Norway owns uninhibited Bouvet Island down there. Trump reciprocated tariffs and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands south of South America are British owned along with the Falkland Islands with about 2000 people! No country owns any land for free!
