The Village People started as a disco band for gays in 1977 in Manhattan NYC.Only the lead singer is an original member. They had other hits besides YMCA. Macho Man is their other song I know well from my childhood in the 80s.

They first asked Trump to stop playing their song YMCA at his rallies. They also said they wanted Kamala to win. But they saw how they could profit from this! They changed their stance quickly. Some of their fans of course are upset.
